Macaroon Heaven at Ladurée

28 Jul

GirlSeeksShoe here.

I’ve been rejecting my blog lately, so here’s something to make your mouths’ water.

In Paris, we passed this beautiful patisserie; its windows were enough to make us stop and drool, and then go and spend an inordinate sum on some pastel macaroons.

I have since learnt that Ladurée make the best macaroons in the world, and the most beautiful. The packaging is sublime, and they are dotted around the world to entice those in the know to splash out on some flower-coloured delights.

Just some of the packaging you can choose from.

The flavours are so intense, and literally explode in your mouth. Try orange-blossom and be amazed. Chocolate lovers should definitely go for the best tasting chocolate ever.

I also bought a bag, because what fashion addict doesn’t collect bags from the places she’s been? I got the one with the macaroons splashed over it, but it was a hard choice.

Parisian Summer Evenings

15 Jul

GirlSeeksShoe here.

So I just got back from an amazing week in Paris; just being a tourist and eating some delicious food etc. But one thing really jumped out at me. The native Parisians are so so stylish! Now, I’m not really surprised, we all know they have this reputation for being classy elegant people, I just hadn’t experienced it first-hand. Throughout the week I started to notice trends in the way they dressed, enabling me to dissect their style pour toi! If you want to dress like a sophisticated Parisian, here are some key elements to their summer look.

Loose blouses and shirts:

Often paired with a short black pencil skirt, bare legs and ballet flats, I saw loose blouses and shirts worn in a myriad of ways.

Open over vest tops, belted in, casually flung over shoulder. Very chic.

They were often in nude colours, but you could go with floral, if you wanted to really make a splash.

The Black Sack Dress:

Always belted in, fairly short, usually with bare legs. A shift will do, but it should be cotton or linen, as the light fabric makes for a more summery look.

Ballet pumps were also very chic and seemed a staple for those on the Metro. But nothing flashy, and usually suede:

I was stunned by the beauty of the people too. The most beautiful city-dwellers in the world? Very possibly…

Magic Style… The Harry Potter Premiere

8 Jul

GirlSeeksShoe here.

So the final Harry Potter premiere was last night, and I watched eagerly to see what Emma Watson’s new style savviness would treat us to next. I wasn’t disappointed. While Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley) looked rather bizarre in a granny pink Miu Miu dress with an unflattering cut (below), Emma looked gorgeously styled in my favourite dress designer Oscar de la Renta.

Her hair and make-up looked beautifully sophisticated, and she proved just how far she’d come from Hermione’s frazzled image in The Philosopher’s Stone:

My favourite Weasley twins looked rather dashing too:

Unfortunately, Malfoy’s (Tom Felton) arm-candy, didn’t really measure up to his classy villainous look, or the sophistication of his co-stars. Jade Olivia looked more suited to an episode of The Only Way Is Essex, with her orange-hued skin… and was that foundation on her lips?! No, no, no. She should take a leaf out of Emma’s book.

So this is nearly the end. Just a week left until the Harry Potter era closes. I hope the actors do stick around Hollywood for a while. I wouldn’t mind Emma Watson being the next Keira Knightley (she is far less annoying already!).
