GirlSeeksShoe here.

Why must I revise? A question I often ask myself, generally in the form of a wail. And I am always ashamed to admit the answer, because my motivation for revision is very shallow.

I revise so I will pass my exams, and get the grades I need for university. I need to go to uni to get a degree, and that degree will enable me to get a good job. So far, so generic. That job will give me money, which I can then use to buy… bags. Yes, the motivation for my revision is bags. Oh well. My current summer obssession happens to be Dior with a bit of Chanel  thrown in for good measure;

And to top it all off; here are my current distractions. It’s hard to revise when these shoes are are not mine. *sigh*

Dr Suess sums up revision perfectly though;

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The

more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”

Walking on Sunshine…

13 May

GirlSeeksShoe here.

I’m walking on sunshine… and don’t it feel good? Hell yeah!

Summer is here, the sun is out, and you fashionistas know what that means right? Sunglasses are back.

This year we see the return of retro, florals, and the peak of the bright trend. From Gucci to Guess, Ray-Ban to de la Renta, and all the high-street favourites, fashion has your summer eyewear covered. And my favourites are delectably delicious.

Ray-Ban Classic aviator sunglasses

Classic aviators from Ray-Ban. Timeless and tres chic. £111 from Net-A-Porter.com

Guess Sunglasses - 107637

Guess sunglasses tap into that classy look, and the brown is bang-on-trend. £85 from Vision Express

Medium Cat Eye Sunglasses

There is nothing like a white frame to show the world your retro style. If you’re cool, flaunt it. £14 from Accessorize

Floral Print Flat Sunglasses

Florals are in. Take advantage of the fashion-world embracing granny-style and bag yourself a pair of quirky shades. Because you can. £14 from Accessorize

           Pink Heart Sunglasses

The emergence of florals shows that the trend for brights is almost over. Regress to you childhood whilst you can. On the left; $5.80 from Forever 21. On the right; £7 from PunkyPins.co.uk

The woman who made sunglasses iconic. Audrey’s morning style in Breakfast at Tiffany’s soon came to define the standards of classic style worldwide. So, when the legendary Tiffany’s released their own range of sunglasses… well, an iconic legend met iconic quality.

From left; $220, $430, and $430.  All at Tiffany’s.

As for my own sunglasses, I recently snapped up some gorgeous Oscar de la Renta’s for an absolute bargain.

Classic black and big enough to hide behind; that’s all I need.

Summertime…And The Living Is Easy…

1 May

GirlSeeksShoe here.

I love this song. It absolutely sums up that lazy summer mood, and, for some reason, transports me to that era of Fred Astaire dancing in his hat and tails. (You can listen to Ella Fitzgerald’s Summertime here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MIDOEsQL7lA&feature=player_detailpage)

The other day, my friend walked into class with the most glorious outfit to signal the start of that summertime mood. Channelling Zooey Deschanel’s quirky style from bygone eras in 500 Days of Summer, she wore a fabulous little dress and flat shoes. Somehow, this friend of mine has that eye for style that ensures she is always perfectly dressed in clothes that never look bad on her. Here is a quick recreation of that outfit; to ease you into summer in the best of moods.

Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon Levitt (He’s MINE!)

Photo 1 of Floral Cup Dress by Wal G** £39 – Topshop

Photo 1 of Amanda Dress by Annie Greenabelle** £48 – Topshop

 £19.99 – H&M

She accessoried with a black cardigan and some brogues, to make the look more casual and everyday:

Pale Grey (Grey) Ribbon Lace Brogue | 214609802 | New Look £17.99 – New Look

FRANK £65.00 – Office

But you could add a blazer (with the sleeves rolled up) in a light colour for some summer party style (and a pair of killer heels of course):

Camel (Stone) Linen Blazer | 212661817 | New LookLinen Blazer £30 – New Look

Lipsy Patent Court ShoeLipsy Shoes – £45

I’m loving espadrilles at the moment, and the more colour there is, the better to make your outfit pop:

Petrol Blue (Blue) Strap Canvas Wedge | 218170447 | New Look £30 New Look

Petrol Blue (Blue) Floral Peeptoe Wedge | 218186147 | New Look £24.99 New Look

Coral (Orange) Striped Peeptoe Wedge | 213410683 | New Look £24.99 New Look

And then top it all off with a flowery head-band. My friend has a Rihanna -type feathered bob which definitely suits her, and I have learnt from her that a bit of hair-accessorising can make your outfit:

Amalfi Butterfly Bow Alice Band £7 Accessorize

Amalfi Print Ruffle FlowerFlower £7 Accessorize

£6 Claire’s Accessories

Now I’m off to enjoy the first day of summer… May is when the first round of barbecue-fever sets in. Yum!
