Wickedly Colourful

7 Jul

GirlSeeksShoe here.

So this week I went to see Wicked at the London Apollo Victoria Theatre, and of course it was brilliant. But, in terms of fashion, the costumes were amazing! The residents of Emerald City in particular were dressed in more shades of green than¬†I knew could be seen on person, and the detailing was amazingly intricate… very Gaga-esque.

This explosion of green onto the stage reminded me of this season’s emphasis on breaking the “rules” of fashion.

Not supposed to wear shades of the same colour? Break the rule.

All white is for brides and tennis players? Break the rule.

Never wear clashing colours? Break the rule in spectacular style.

Colour blocking requires a bit of confidence, but you can start as slowly as you want… you don’t have to jump in with a fluorescent pink and orange outfit , you can go for classic jewel hues:

Go forth and be colourful this summer… I don’t think breaking the rules has ever been so cheerful and guilt-free!
