Lush Lovin’

3 May

GirlSeeksShoe here.

Well, I love summer, but there is one thing that gets me pouting every time I think of sunny days and rising temperatures… I can’t have hot baths! Technically I could, but I just can’t reconcile myself with wasting that much water on a hot day when I don’t even need to warm up. And it’s a shame because baths are just so comforting and warm and they smell so good. Oh yeah, didn’t I mention the Lush Bath Ballistics that make baths awesome?

Well I am now.

Lush is my favouritest-shop-ever-in-the-whole-wide-world* and everything they make is just super-mega-foxy-awesome-hot**.

Ever since I was little I have gone on an annual pilgrimage (of sorts) to Oxford Street, Regent Street and Bond Street with my family every Christmas; first for Santa’s Grotto and then just because it became tradition. When I hit double-digits, I noticed this nice-smelling shop on Old Bond Street, and I walked in blindly oblivious to the fact that it would Change My Life.

For some reason, for several years I thought that my Lush was the only Lush in the world. It’s not. They’re everywhere, even in America. And that’s fine. It means that there is one closer to home (the Windsor shop), one by my university of choice (Cornwall), and even one next to my cousins abroad so they can send me sweet-smelling Lushious (see what I did there? Get it?) presents (Baltimore, USA). Yet, whenever I inhale the gorgeous smorgasbord of odours from Lush, I get that happy Christmas feeling.

And it feels really good.

So, not using Lush in the summer is a big ask for me. Thank BeingOfHigherPower I don’t have to then. Here are some Lush products that can even be used in the summer:

Obviously, showers are the stars of summer, and Lush has some fabulous shower products.

GrassOhmigoodness I have always wished for something that bottles my favourite smell… freshly cut grass. Eek! Here it is; in a lovely shower gel. Grass;  £4.55 – 100g

The Olive Branch You have to shake this one to mix in the lovely layers; but boy is it worth it. A very liquid shower gel that smells absolutely divine. I wasn’t expecting it to smell this good and make my skin super soft! The Olive Branch: £4.10 – 100g

(Also, give Happy Hippy Shower Gel a try for an energizing mood-lifter.)

Up You Gets These are like Bath Bombs but you put them in your shower and they actually WAKE you up! It’s fabulous; like coffee without the caffeine. Up You Gets Emotibomb: £1.99

SandstoneThis soap has sand in it! You know what that means right? It means it will exfoliate you ready for a skin-baring summer. Whoop! Sandstone: £2.89 – 100g

Lush Lime SmoothieMy favourite summer drink is an iced lime daiquiri, and limes always put me in that by-the-pool mood. This Lime Shower smoothie (you don’t drink it though) from the Retro range is perfect for capturing that in the run-up to the holidays. Lime Shower Smoothie £9.10

Rub Rub Rub I actually nicked this one from my brother’s stocking. Shhh! It was totally worth the bad karma, because it is the best exfoliator I have ever used. Ever. Rub Rub Rub Shower Scrub: £7.35

Everything at Lush is 100% natural, so you’ll be doing your body and the environment a favour. This is actually why I have tron myself away from my trusty Vaseline and converted to Lush’s lip balms. They don’t disappoint. After trying about a gazillion, my fave is Honey Trap.

Honey Trap It tastes like honey. Basically. Although it does cost £4.99, I swear it lasts aeons (or at least a year). This is my current favourite, but I have just noticed some new lip scrubs I have to check out…

For anyone who isn’t as ideologically opposed to summer baths as I am, definitely pick up a Bath Ballistic.

The ComforterOr a Bubble Bar like The Comforter (£3.99).

And, to top it all off, the Charity Pot is moisturizer that works like no other on your dry spots at the same time as helping the world. Feel that good karma guys. I picked up a trial size one (as big as a lip balm) and it costs less than the big one without causing you to miss out on its magic properties. Seriously a little of that stuff goes a long way!

N.B. Just A Brit’s Beauty Blog also just started a fabulous series about Lush products. It’s like heaven everytime I read it. So check it out here. Or, click the link in my sidebar. Which is actually more effort, but each to their own.

In the words of Coco Chanel; “A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous”. Lush is definitely both.
